Jeff Miller has been a full charge, lead carpenter in the construction industry since 1987. Jeff owned and operated Miller Carpentry for 8 years prior to joining the Coastal team in 1995. Jeff specializes in finish carpentry, as well as all other phases of the home improvement industry. Jeff has produced projects for Coastal that have won the Remodeling Award of Excellence from the Home Builders Association of Maryland.

“Coastal Builders in general and Jeff Miller specifically did excellent work on this project. Because I designed this addition (instead of hiring an architect), I had a high level of interest in how the project would be built. I have always been interested in architecture and wanted to perform the architect’s oversight function. Throughout the project, Jeff focused on constructing an addition that would please my wife and myself while also being built to Jeff’s high construction standards. Jeff always listened to my ideas, suggested alternatives about how we could proceed, and warned me when he thought my ideas were impractical. There were times when I got new ideas or changed my mind in the middle of the project. Jeff was extremely helpful in making suggestions and developing change orders that provided what my wife and I wanted with minimal additional time and expense.

“A desire to remodel our kitchen and family room was a frightening thought for us. Because of past poor workmanship and a number of horror stories, we were hesitant to put ourselves and money at risk again. Then, after two estimates we set up an appointment with Coastal Builders.

We want to thank Rich Campbell for his thoroughness in estimating and helpful design ideas. From start to finish we were kept abreast of all aspects of this project. All involved, from Marino Plumbing, George, the electrician, Danzco Flooring, and saving the best for last, Jeff. He is a "Master Craftsman." Our fears were laid to rest when he began the renovation. Thank you for all the extras, Jeff. Raising our front door to accommodate the flooring, rehanging old cupboards in the garage, the makeshift countertops from cardboard were a Godsend, the taller door for the turntable cupboard, using the smaller one as a false door to the island and for the daily cleaning and timely removal of trash from all work areas. You made every effort to create calm out of upheaval.

“All work was performed in a workmanlike manner and it was evident that the materials used were of excellent quality. Subcontractors were scheduled so as to make the work run smoothly with no interferences between the trades that would delay the work. The lead carpenter, Jeff Miller, was always punctual or would advise by phone of any delays or schedule changes. He was always cooperative and unobtrusive. The work site was always cleaned up daily with no litter or construction materials left lying around. The work proceeded in such a manner that the kitchen addition was almost complete before "breaking through" into the old kitchen. There was very little disruption except during the actual connection of the new work to the existing kitchen. We were without running water in the kitchen for a grand total of 3 hours! All in all, an excellent piece of work.”

“We just wanted to drop you a note to express our sincere appreciation for your efforts in making our home’s addition a reality. As you know, we needed to add a room onto the first floor, including a handicapped bath, for my father. This effort grew a bit to include a second garage bay, a covered country porch, new siding and a new roof. Then we requested the plan designed in such a way that the room could easily be opened up and used as a great room sometime in the future.

During the entire process, from the initial designing to completion, the Coastal team, including your subcontractors were great. They were always courteous and professional. They understood that their hob site was our home, and acted accordingly. The job site was never left dirty or untidy. Even the little things such as making a temporary gate to accommodate our family dog were all provided at our first asking. Our many questions were answered promptly.

We have received numerous compliments from neighbors. One that stands out is “I really appreciate a home addition that does not look like an addition when it is through.” Another commented on the obvious high quality of workmanship that was put into the job.
